Lemon Drop With Kendra Bester Design

Lemonade

I've been teasing this on Instagram for the last few days and today I can finally reveal what me and my dear friend Kendra, owner of Kendra Bester Design, have been up to! Kendra recently started printing her amazing watercolour paintings and is currently selling tea towels and bar towels on her website. She just launched her new summer collection and released the cute as can be "Lemon Drop" so we decided to throw a lemon themed party!

Kendra and I share a deep love of all things lifestyle. We met a few years ago and became fast friends. We chat about decor and I personally don't make a design move until I talk it through with this talented designer first. We text about clothes, send each other different flower accounts to follow on IG (anyone else obsessed with these accounts?) and have been talking about collaborating on something for a while. When Kendra showed me her new tea towels we just knew this was our chance! We decided to have a little get together on a Friday night to sip on some sweet lemon flavoured cocktails and small bites. We called it our dessert party! Breakfast is too early, brunch is too much work so dessert was the way to go for us! I encourage you to throw your own dessert party, with a few Kendra Bester Design tea towels, of course!

Kendra and I had decided that we would host this dessert party on my deck. I clipped hydrangeas from my garden and Kendra picked up some blooms from the flower market in Toronto. I baked Martha's famous lemon squares with brown butter shortbread crust (I had watched Martha Bakes earlier in the day ;) and Kendra and I worked on the placement and lighting on everything. Everything you see was just hiding in some part of my house. A set a nesting tables from the front hallway, milk glass vases that where hidden in the corner of a shelf, and an old lemonade dispenser that has been in storage for quite some time. To set the table Kendra brought her vintage green plates and we accented them with silver and white pieces. It's always fun to look around at what you have and see it in a new and exciting light! I've fallen in love all over again with my milk glass and have vowed to use it throughout the rest of the summer!

Lemon

For drinks we decided to serve lemonade and lemon sweetened ice tea because it was incredibly hot and nothing cools like a cold glass of lemonade. For a little added fun later in the evening we made limoncello prosecco cocktails served with edible flowers in small vintage wide mouthed champagne glasses and a ready-to-serve bubbly white wine called Joie that I bought while in the LCBO. While I may have initially bought it thanks to the cute baby blue bottle, I fell in love with the taste! They were easy to serve late in the evening and I just might bring them on a few summer picnics I have planned!

We stayed on the deck until the wee hours talking about our summer plans, life as entrepreneurs and more importantly, what our next collaboration would be! I would describe myself as a "going overboard" kind of gal and I truly have a kindred spirit in Kendra. We had so much fun coming up with the idea of this dessert party designed to celebrate the release of her lemon drop tea and bar towels. There are many more exciting things coming up from the Kendra Bester Design team so I know we won't be at a loss to find things to celebrate! Celebrating this life is my favourite thing to do!

  1. What a gorgeous party! You two certainly have an eye for beauty! Your deck was the perfect location, and I love all the beautiful decor choices. The lemoncello cocktails sound right up my alley!
