Christmas Gift Guide - For The Hostess

The next week and a half is going to be filled with work lunches, after work get-togethers, holiday parties and family dinners. My rule of thumb is if someone invited you, they deserve a gift for their thoughtfulness and as appreciation for the work that goes into coordinating. Even the most casual affair requires planning! Playing in my favourite application, Photoshop (as a part time University student I attended a beginner Photoshop class last year and loved it!), I created a Christmas gift guide for the hostess in your life. Don't forget to include a Christmas card!

1. Sea Bags Gold Star Wine Bag (LINK) $35 US - I love these little wine bags and the star makes it seasonal and non-seasonal. A gift you are sure to get a lot of use out of. I have included my three favourite drinks to include in your wine bag; a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, Priest Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon (California) and Dreaming Tree Crush red wine blend (California).

2. Target Joy to the World Tea Towels 2 pack $5.99 US - Add a pack of plain white tea towels and be the hero of the party when a spill happens (which, they inevitably do).

3. Flower arrangement - Pick up supplies at your local farmers market and make an arrangement or pick up a pre-made arrangement from your favourite florist.

4. Yankee Candle Gingerbread Maple Large Jar $27.99 - I love receiving Yankee Candles as a gift and this seasons scents are delicious! I have Gingerbread Maple in my kitchen and it smells heavenly.

5. Movie Gift Cards - Stop by a movie house and grab a gift pack for your host. There are gift cards for tickets or even for a full night out including tickets for two with popcorn and drinks. They make a great gift around the holidays, Star Wars anyone?

6. Pick up a locally made confection (inquire at your local gourmet grocer). Last year I purchased Hugo & Nate handmade, small batch, caramels and gave them as thank you gifts (LINK to post from last year), they were a huge hit!

7. David's Tea The Night Before Christmas $28 CAN - Nine caffeine-free Christmas flavoured teas. A gift your hostess can use throughout the holiday season!

8. World Market Nutcracker Platter $15.99 US - Every hostess can use another Christmas themed platter! Include a batch of your favourite cookies to make it extra special.

9. Marks & Spencer monogrammed mugs £6 - Everyone loves monogrammed mugs, they make Monday mornings a little more bearable. Make it a complete set and buy one for each member in your hostess's family.

10. The Tartan Blanket Co. Heritage Wool in Royal Stewart Tartan £50 - Warm your hostess's heart and everything else with a wool tartan blanket. During the Christmas season you really can't go wrong with a cheery plaid pattern.

There you have it, 10 of my favorite hostess gift items I would love to give and receive! Which item will you be gifting at your next get together?
