Powder Room Inspiration

Last week we had a day or two where the weather actually dropped below 20 degrees (that is a distant memory with the 35 degrees we had yesterday!) and that had me in total fall mode! I wanted to pull out sweaters, make something in the crock pot (actually my mom did that and it was delicious!), and get my fall to-do list on the go. I had intended to do a front hall foyer makeover this summer but with the extreme heat, painting was the last thing on my mind. The humidity was so bad this summer I don't think any paint would have dried anyway! Now that my favourite season is here I am back on the makeover train but this time, it's my powder room that I am looking at.

I found this powder room on Pinterest (where else!) and struggle to find the original source (the only downside to Pinterest). The second I saw that wallpaper I knew that was what I wanted for my powder room! My home is kept quite neutral because I like to swap out seasonal items but I really want to go wild in my little bathroom. I am so in love with the wallpaper and wonder if this is something I can recreate by hand with paint. Maybe freehand or find a stencil?

This hallway showcases this animal/random spots wallpaper. I like how this one seems to have more spacing between the spots.

This really speaks to me with the pops of gold! In my powder room right now I have silver and white bathroom fixtures (which I may or may not change), a white pedestal sink (again, I may or may not change) and two framed maps of California and LA that I want to keep. They have black frames and the map is a vintage red. I bought them at Target and just love them. I would like to add a few gold framed photos to the other side of the wall and add a green vase and flowers like on this sink.

I'm not in love with the malachite mirror so I did a little more Pinterest exploring and found this beauty. I am so in love with bamboo (remember these beautiful chairs I styled on my deck?) and I think a gold bamboo mirror would really pop against the white and black walls.

I just love these green trimmed roman blinds. Right now I have plain white blinds and I'd love to spice up the window with a hint of green, especially if I could find some with the Greek key trim.

And we can't forget about underfoot! A nice, small, plush Persian rug would be the perfect pop for this tiny space! Since the room is so small, as many powder rooms are, I feel like this is the space I can really go all out with colour. Especially when the walls will be so light and airy.

My goal is to have this done before Christmas so I need a few free weekends to prime (the walls are a dark brown right now, Benjamin Moore's Warm Sand), then paint and stencil, or wallpaper, add some artwork and maybe a few shelves, then some decorative items and we are good for the holiday season! Send some good vibes my way so that I can get this done!

What home decor renovations are you looking to complete this fall?

  1. I LOVE hitting up Pinterest for home decor/remodeling inspiration. I've seen so many powder rooms with a pop of wallpaper and surprisingly, I'm a fan. I love how it makes a statement in such a small room. And I'm all about gold right now, so I love that mirror!
