Is there any activity more quintessentially fall then apple picking? The leaves are changing in Kitchener and that means my favourite apple, the McIntosh, is in season. AMH and I stopped at our local apple farm on the way to the movies (saw Hell or High Water. Great movie, little slow in spots, but fab acting by all!) and picked up some Macs, and a few Honey Crisp because they are pretty swell too.

Funny little story to share. A few years ago, around this time of year, the Boy Scouts were participating in their annual Apple Day fundraiser. My dad was a big supporter of Apple Day and it's something I am proud to say I donate to, and passed on to my boys. Anyway, back to the funny story. The boys and I were at Tim Hortons early one morning and this sweet as pie little boy said in a seriously charming, high pitched 4 year old voice "Excuse me. Would you like to buy an apple to support the Boy Scouts?". He was so sweet and cute I dumped everything I had into his dish. Now we have a little joke in my family that when the Boy Scouts are out, mom throws all her money at them! I tell you this because...Apple Day 2016 is almost here! In my area the boys will be out October 14 & 15th and I encourage you to donate generously, and get your apple a day in.
