While we finally saw the return of the sun this weekend, it didn't do much to warm up the outside air which hovered at near freezing on Sunday when The Oldest and I shot these photos. The wind was biting but we just couldn't pass up the opportunity to shoot in this dreamy golden hour light. We headed to one of my favourite places in Kitchener, Victoria Park, and ran into a few other photographers.

If you follow me on Instagram you might have witnessed my sheer panic on Friday when I dropped my beloved camera and broke my lens. I did what anyone would do, I panicked! 😁  I had been thinking of upgrading my lens for a while so I used this opportunity to upgrade my 18-55 lens to the 55-200. Basically it means that I can zoom in with the best of them. These are my first photos with the new lens and I am so in love! Oh and that lens that I broke? When AMH came home from work he took one look at it, snapped it back into place and it works fine. Oh well. I'm so happy with the lens it almost makes me forget about how much it hurt the old pocketbook to buy it.

Thanks to the never ending rain and chilly temperatures, layers have been my best friend. A long chambray with a long striped shirt and my quilted coat was the best defence against the cool wind. I haven't worn jeans with rips in them since I was a teen but I picked these up from The Gap as an impulse buy. I forgot how comfortable they are! Especially when you're bending at the knees often, like cleaning the house or gardening. They're not something I would wear everyday, and certainly not into the office during the week, but they make great jeans for off duty days.

Other than these new jeans and my Baublebar earrings that were including in my list of the 7 clothing items I'm adding this spring everything else has been in my closet for some time. I bought the stripe shirt last winter, the chambray I've had for a few years and the same goes for my quilted coat, sunnies and purse! They are all frequently used in my wardrobe and you may have noticed them a few times on the blog. I've always thought that the true mark of a fashionista is the ability to mix and match clothing that you already own. Each season I like to add or replace a few items in my wardrobe. It not only keeps my wardrobe classic and fresh, it's so much easier on the wallet than buying all new items every season! But hopefully this is the last time I will have to reach for so many layers, I am really looking forward to being able to wear dresses again!
