My Blue and White Thanksgiving Table

In honour of American Thanksgiving tomorrow, I thought I would share my tablescape from my Canadian Thanksgiving back in October.

This was one of my most fun tablescapes because I did it last minute and by only using things that I already had in my house!

I bought the Kate Spade checkered runner on a whim for $20 from Homesense. It's a great everyday runner and it inspired the rest of the table! Blue and white is a total obsession for me. It's so classic and mixes so easily with so many other colours. And, well, I have a lot of it. That made it extra easy to pull from other areas in my living room and kitchen to decorate the table.

My Blue and White Thanksgiving Table

I started with traditional Johnson Bros. blue and white plates, added some faux leaf garland down the centre and topped with a pie pumpkin that I later roasted and froze to make pies and things later in the year.  The 'H' monogrammed napkins were an old buy from Target many years ago. Actually, they were part of a Christmas set of pocket squares that I bought for the boys but the sizing was all wrong on them. They work out so much better as napkins.

I opted out of filling the vases with flowers only because this year we have a puppy to contend with. I love real flowers and I would fill my house with them if I could! Thankfully the puppy has gotten the hint that we don't jump up so our next table should have something pretty on it.

My Blue and White Thanksgiving Table

With one kid in college and having to work on Thanksgiving, we were just a family of three so we decided to keep things as simply as possible. It was our most relaxed Thanksgiving ever! I just pulled things from around the house last minute to decorate, the turkey and fixings were kept quite simple, even our dessert was a small version of an apple spiced cake that took no time at all to prepare. And wouldn't you know it, the college student made his way over just in time to grab some leftovers before heading back to residence.

Wishing all my American readers, friends and family a very Happy Thanksgiving!
