Barn Living Is The Life For Me

celebrating this life

I couldn't resist the blog title name. It's a throwback to one of my favourite shows growing up, Green Acres!
It works since we spent the first week of 2019 living in a converted barn in Fairfield, Connecticut. There was a lot of relaxing, playing outdoors and even reading about local area barns.

Ivy's Bandana

I got this red sweater last summer and have lost count on how many times I've worn it. It's one of those workhorses of my wardrobe. When it was warmer, I wore it alone. Now that it's much cooler, I layer it over a white oxford.

This sweater also makes it easy to coordinate with Ivy. She loves wearing her L.L.Bean heritage bandana I bought in store for her a few months ago. Once it gets dirty (and it does get dirty) I take it off of her, and then all h-e-double hockey sticks breaks out. I've trained this dog to love dressing up, I never thought she'd be the one to bully me into giving her her bandana back!

Heading out on vacation just after the holidays worked out perfectly. With Ivy growing everyday, we really wanted to take time out and just enjoy the puppy stage. It all goes by in a blur. We've been so busy at home and work, and with two weeks off over the holidays, it just made sense to go away.

And we got exactly what we were looking for, a lot of face time with our energetic puppy. We discovered she likes to play fetch which we never would have found out living in our city home!

As for me, I am going to keep the trend of wearing red going long after the memory of the holidays fade. While the weather was warm and the sun was bright in Connecticut, we are back home in Ontario with the reality of a few months of dark, dreary weather ahead. I'm looking to my closet to give me a healthy dose of colour in the next few months and this sweater will be where it always is. Right on top.
