Blue and White Kitchens- Decor Inspiration

My favourite room to decorate, or redecorate or even just style up is the kitchen.

It's the heartbeat of any home. It's where we spend the majority of our time and it's where so many heartfelt conversations take place over chopping veggies. The kitchen above was created by my friend, who I always call the Queen of Kitchens, Kendra Bester Design. After the kitchen was complete, I brought over my personal blue and white collection and styled the space to be photographed for an online magazine (it was my first professional styling job!)

An all white kitchen is the perfect backdrop for blue and white decor. And that's not just ginger jars and vases. It's all the way down to the linens you hang on your stove handle, the curtains, stools/chairs and floor coverings.

And then we get into the colourful kitchens that have taken dark and light shades of blue and made that the main focus with colour on the cabinets and even the backsplash.

And if colour on the cabinets is too much of a change, why not just add some colour to your island.

It's a popular trend right now to add colour to your kitchen and only time will tell if this trend makes the leap to mainstay. I think it adds a depth and warmth that can't really be achieved with all white all the time which is why I think more and more designers and home decor influencers are leaning towards this.

If you're like me and thinking of adding more colour to your all white kitchen, start small and add to it over time. Eventually you'll end up with a space that more reflects your own personal style.
